6 months and one week later...

Miss M took her first day of naps in her crib. Granted they were only an hour they were not in the magic swing. Thank heavens. I feel good about the transition so far.

The first nap had a bit of fussing but nap two there wasn't a peep!

Oh. And my camera is in the shop so pictures might not be in abundance in the next week or two.

Miss M is up...must go get her!

Uncle Big Craig and Miss M

We were lucky enough to see a lot of Uncle Craig (and Aunt Jessie) the past few weeks. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures with Aunt Jessie. But we did get some of Miss M and Uncle Craig...

Playing

Chilling

Singing

Dancing

And looking alike

Mr. Food Face

They have a product out called Mr. Food Face. They also have a Ms. Food Face. It's advertised to get kids to eat a wide range of foods by decorating Mr./Ms. Food Face with colorful foods. We bought a Mr. Food Face for Grandpa because we thought it might make eating fun for him too!

Do you see a resemblance between Mr. Food Face and Miss M?!?

Thanksgiving in September

As noted in a previous post, we are not going to be having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Therefore, we had our traditional Thanksgiving dinner in September. It didn't feel stressful or rushed like Thanksgiving dinner can sometimes feel (although I don't normally cook the Thanksgiving meal but at times it seems rushed/stressful). There was a turkey, stuffing, potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, broccoli, cranberries, rolls, jello, pies and more.

Family came over, we celebrated and had a good time.

Pre-Thanksgiving hanging out in the garage because it was raining. Doesn't everyone hang out in the garage when it rains?!?

Playing with Aunt Sal

Miss M loves anything she can get her mouth on. Wine glasses included. Don't worry. No wine was consumed by those under the legal age during our pre-thanksgiving party. As you can see, Aunt Sal has a very watchful eye on Miss M!

Shoot. She stopped paying attention!

Thanksgiving dinner...can you find Miss M? She enjoyed dinner because somehow she ended up trying all sorts of new food.

Thanksgiving in September just might have to be a new tradition.

Miss M's first plane ride

Miss M has been a busy lady. We went to see her aunt and uncle's new house for the holiday weekend and then we went back to grandma and grandpa's house for the week.

We had to get home somehow and so we flew home. Thankfully, we were a family of three flying home and not just Miss M and I or there may have been more of a breakdown occur on the momma's part...not Miss M's part.

Miss M did great. Thankfully, it's only a 45 minute flight.

Her parents didn't have enough arms. I thought we had packed pretty light. We didn't. A suitcase for each person. A suitcase for the stroller. Multiple carry-on bags. A car seat. And a baby. We learned a few lessons on how to do it better next time. Luckily, grandma and grandpa are able to get some essential supplies for their house thus making traveling a little easier IE highchair, pack-n-play, swing.

Here is all our cargo...we needed a cart for the first time.

MIss M is 6 months old

Miss M turned six months old on Monday.

We went to the doctor today. We started going to a new doctor and I think we're going to like her. She had a lot of "suggestions" that we are supposed to work on in the next four weeks before we go back for another check up.

Here are her stats:

Height: 27 inches (90%)
Weight: 14 lbs 13.5 ozs (25 to 50%)
Head circumference: 90%

So as you'll notice her weight is a little on the low side thus our return trip to the doctor in four weeks. When Miss M went to the doctor for her four month appointment she weighed 13 lbs and 13 ozs. So it appears she only gained a pound in two months. These numbers could be skewed based on when she ate and diaper on/off/wet/dry but the doctor had some recommendations for getting her to pack on a few more pounds.

She recommends that we push a little harder with the bottle. Feed her milk in every solid food she consumes. Feed her milk before solid food so she isn't filling up on non-nutritious calories since the fat and protein comes from the milk.

The doctor told me to invest in a good pair of earplugs and let her cry it out in the middle of the night so she stops waking up to eat because it's probably more habit than anything else. I still think she's a bit "off" in her sleep because of our recent travels as she's waking up twice and not sleeping as long as she probably should be.

I am embarrassed and hate to admit it, but Miss M is still sleeping in her swing. Gasp. Everyone knows so it's not a big deal. Except it is a big deal. The doctor wasn't impressed. She said it's time to give her the boot from the swing and start napping in the crib like a good little six month old girl. It is my plan to start the nap time boot camp once we get back from our next round of travels. I am tired of traveling. Traveling with Miss M can be exhausting.

We have medicine we need to pick up and start applying a couple times a day.

I don't remember what else she told me. Thankfully she wrote it all down. I am sure there is more I need to do but right now that's enough. Oh, Miss M refuses to roll over via her left side. She rolls back and forth on her right side. She loves it. The left side. No thank you. I try to roll her over on her left side and she pushes back and doesn't want anything to do with it. So we're working on that too.

In summary, we're working on getting Miss M to take a bottle. Include milk in her solid foods, sleep through the night, not sleep in a crib, roll over to the left. All in four weeks before our next appointment. Piece. Of. Cake.

I will keep you posted!

Happy six month old sweet nugget!
