Standing alone

Miss M is now standing on her own.

She isn't getting up from a seated position and standing yet, but rather she pulls herself up with something then will stand by herself fairly well. She is also pretty good at getting back down to the ground without getting herself hurt.

We went to a play cafe this week where there are a bunch of toys for kids of all ages. She enjoyed herself. She just crawls off from one thing to the next and only occasionally looks back to see if I am still around or to see if I am chasing her down. She likes train tables because they tend to be at her height. There is a train table at one of the gyms as well that she frequently enjoys.

We also went to the aquarium this week. The sea lions were out and barking very loudly. Miss M loved it. She thought they were dogs. She loves dogs and babies (as mentioned before I am sure). She points at all little kids (even if they are 12) and all dogs and gets excited. We get magazines geared for parents and she looks through them over and over again and points at all the babies.

She also has been giving kisses when asked. She comes at you with an open mouth and they are the best things ever. Well maybe not the best things ever but they rank right up there. It's pretty sweet when you ask her to pat you and she gives you pats. It's as close to a hug as we're going to get for awhile.

She is a lot of fun right now. You can ask her questions and she knows what you're talking about. I ask her where the ball is, if she wants to have a picnic, if she can play some music at her table, where a certain book is and she goes and gets them or at least points at these things. If I ask her if she's hungry she looks at the kitchen. If I ask her if she wants to go check the mail (which she thoroughly enjoys) she looks at the front door. It's reassuring to know that I haven't just been talking to talk and that all (some) of my talking is meaning something to her.

She isn't sleeping very well. I could go into how she wakes up and stays up and a load of other things but they aren't worth discussing. And I have stuff I need to do so I can go to bed so I can keep up with her tomorrow. There are a lot of people who say that waking up in the middle of the night can be a sign of new developmental things or new teeth. Based on her waking patterns for two hours in the middle of the night I expect her to be doing cartwheels pretty soon.

She did cut her first molar last week so maybe that is apart of it.

Later.

Cheese Block

Miss M is still not feeling well and eating less now than she was last week. She has stopped eating Ritz crackers and oyster crackers. She gets a wide assortment of choices each meal and just isn't into any of them right now. I imagine when she starts feeling better she will eat again.

So last night when she got the block of cheese and decided to take a few nibbles out of it I let her! At least she was eating something. If you look close at the second picture you can see little bite marks out of it!

So big...

Miss M has a new trick. She finally responds when asked How big is Miss M?

She stops mid activity to perform her new trick.

It's funny and keeps me entertained.

Hope it entertains you too!

Forgive the pathetic picture clarity.

Blanket

Miss M is a blanket girl. She loves her blanket. She sleeps with her blanket. She plays Peek-A-Boo with her blanket. She currently wants her blanket while in her high chair. She tries to drag it around while she plays but usually it trips her.

She has two that she rotates between but I am thinking I need to buy back ups of these particular blankets while they are still available! It could be trouble if they get lost or get ruined.

The Queen

Miss M spends an hour or so most days in daycare at one of the gyms. Yes, there are multiple gyms.

One gym just keeps your kid alive. The other gym interacts and plays with your kid.

Today we visited the gym where they play with your kid. I walked in after my classes and found Miss M sitting in a beanbag chair with her blanket and her snack trap of goodies. The girl who works there was holding Miss M's sippy cup and every time she grunted she got her the toy she thought that she wanted. It was quite a sight. I have a personal trainer and Miss M has a personal assistant to get her toys and food and drinks while she sits in her throne of a beanbag.

It may appear as though she isn't enjoying herself but she is rather she was getting tired. It's less than a 15 minute car ride home and she was sacked out long before we reached our parking spot.

Apparently it's hard being the Queen.

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Miss M's first Valentine's Day.

She is almost (if not already) done with having every first holiday. I think she's officially experienced them all.

She even has pj's to celebrate!

11 months old

Can you believe it?

Miss M Is 11 months old with an actual birthday party on the horizon. It won't be much of a party but there will be cake!

Miss M is a happy and sweet girl.

I don't have a lot to say.

I love her to the moon and back.

Enough said.

Hula

We had visitors this weekend. It was fun to see them and go out with them and have them watch Miss M! Our friends have recently returned from a trip to Hawaii and bought Miss M a little something! I think we have a new/potential first birthday party theme since we have the outfit!

Not so sure.

Not so bad.

Mesmerized

We have the television on all day. Miss M doesn't pay much attention to it until Pat and Vanna
come on at 6:30. Then she's a goner to the depths of the tv.

She's mesmerized by it. I assume it isn't Pat and Vanna but you never know. That Pat is such a character!

Stuffy

We have taken quite a break from our blogging these days. Whoops. I just don't have many pictures or stories to share. It is most likely due to pure laziness but it's also due to Miss M being a little under the weather. It's not ideal to take pictures with snot all over her face. I am getting a new camera lens in the mail soon and I am rather excited about it. I really need to take some classes on how to get the most out of my camera but haven't yet fit that into my schedule (or budget - although I don't do budgets).

So, Miss M has been feeling under the weather for about a week and a half now. It started out that she was just stuffed up but it's moved to her chest and now she's coughing and more snotty. It's sad to sit by and listen to her not be able to breath. I wish I could be sick for her but that's probably how she got sick in the first place. From me.

She has resorted to eating oyster crackers and Ritz crackers (the low sodium variety - I don't recommend them - unless you need low sodium in your diet).

I called the doctor today but the confirmed that I shouldn't bring her in until she has a fever or has been sick for more than two weeks. They also recommended giving her a spoonful of honey to help reduce the coughing. I am not so sure how I feel about their competency since I am pretty sure you're not supposed to give a child under the age of a year honey. I realize she's close to a year but I don't think we'll take any chances. Apparently you are not supposed to give them peanut products until they are three years of age but Miss M has had some peanut butter - on accident the first time - somehow she snagged a peanut butter M&M and since she didn't go into cardiac arrest and turn out to be allergic I now give her part of part of my peanut butter crackers (cracker only - but it does have peanut residue).

She isn't sleeping well during nap times. I don't know if its due to not feeling well, giving up a morning nap, or just trying (and succeeding) at driving me bonkers. One nap that is 45 minutes long is not enough for a little girl (or her momma). But she is sleeping now so I am going to finish the laundry before she wakes up.

Oh. She is a busy girl. She likes to read books. She especially likes books that have flaps to lift or textures to touch. She likes to jump and bounce around. She's very good at walking around using the couch and whatever else she can find to get where she wants to go. She doesn't venture off her 5x8 foot rug unless I am in the kitchen. She is doing better at playing by herself for extended periods of time which is nice for me.

Okay. I seriously need to get stuff done.

Here's a picture from last night after bath time. It's not great but it's from my phone.
