The Cubs...And The Calhouns

The Cubs being in the world series for the first time in 108 years was a big big deal.  It was such a big deal that Craig broke his promise of not visiting Chicago until we visit St. Louis (as we haven't been to St. Louis in an embarrassing long time).  The Cubs happened to be at Wrigley Field Friday, Saturday and Sunday for games 3, 4 and 5.  There was a lot of excitement everywhere.

Doesn't this couch of people scream excitement.
We got up and moving pretty early on Saturday morning so we could take the train to Wrigley Field before the masses of people woke up from the night before.  We parked downtown in Andrew's parking spot and grabbbed the Red Line to Addison.  The kids were pretty pumped.
We were successful in getting there before it was too nuts. We managed to only lose one kid for about 30 seconds which felt like a win.

Jack is so big. He's so much taller and heavier than Miss M.  He found it hilarious to pick her up.  This is a common theme in her life.  Most of her friends are taller than her and think it's awesome to pick her up and carry her around.
Running through Wrigleville hand in hand to ensure no more children got lost.
 Go Cubs Go.
The train ride back...the children were rowdy and no one wanted to sit by us thankfully.
We went back and crammed into the minivan and drove to Navy Pier. It was an awesome day. It was easy to be outside without extra nonsense to carry i.e. coats, gloves and hats.  We walked around outside for a short bit then went to ride the Ferris Wheel. Jessie has wanted us (anyone) to take her to Navy Pier for over five years.  We decided if this was the year of the Cubs then we could make it the weekend of Jessie too.  Miss M was nervous but excited.  I love this picture of the two of them.
This guy loves family time more than anyone I know.
Jack has fun everywhere he goes.  He's pretty easy to please.
After the Ferris Wheel and wandering around Jessie and I took the kids to the Children's Museum. We had so much fun. The kids all played well together.  My phone died so I wasn't able to get any pictures of the kids building, climbing and digging.
Sunday morning I woke up way too early to go downtown and stand around for two hours in the cold so I could run 9.3 miles.  I do enjoy the Hot Chocolate Race but waking up early for a race I felt ill prepared for wasn't my idea of a good time. I was also worried I wouldn't get to say good-bye to Craig, Jessie and Jack.  I was pretty excited that my finishing time was less than two minutes slower than last year.
Jessie gave Andrew and Craig tasks while the kids entertained themselves (for the most part).  She instructed the guys on which beds to take apart and move to which rooms.  Tiffany was planning on moving in with us the following week and we needed to get the rooms bunked up while we had the extra hands.  Jessie was smart and let them take apart a bed at a time before they wised up and realized that every bed was moving to a different room.  She took some verbal abuse after they figured out the scheme.  They moved the beds and got them put back together before leaving. I could have never gotten things done as quickly without them.  I spent the remainder of the day cleaning, organizing and rearranging the smaller pieces of furniture. I think the kids are really happy being roommates.
We bought a W flag and we were able to fly it! I was worried buying the flag would jinx everything and we wouldn't be able to fly it. Big Willie thinks it's a flag for him since it has a huge W on it.  He loves it.  We get to fly the W for the next six months!
