4th of July

Well...It's officially been more than two months since my last post.  There have been a few things going on but the biggest happening is THE CHILDREN ARE BACK IN SCHOOL!!!!!.  I had all sorts of dreams of getting things done in the 2.5 hours I am child-free.  Turns out 2.5 hours fills up pretty fast with runs and workout classes.  I am still swearing one day I will sit on the couch and do nothing but for now I am enjoying being outside and active.  The problem with being active is blogging doesn't happen. Like at all.  As you've noticed.  I am aware.

Miss M asks me all the time when she can be in a  parade.  I have no idea is the response I often want to give her.  So when the local running club announced they were walking in the July 4th parade again this year I signed the kids and I up.  It was chaos.  And oh so long to walk in the heat with four kids b/c we had Miss M's best friend too, duh.  I often feel as though I have four kids in life. I am pretty good with it b/c she goes home, and sometimes if I am lucky, Miss M goes with her and suddenly I am down to two.

I had bought five or six bags of candy thinking it would be plenty. Oh my.  It wasn't nearly enough. We used all our candy in the first 1/4 mile of the 3 mile parade. It might not have been 3 miles but it felt like it.  And then we got to walk home. And by walk home I mean I pushed three kids in the stroller b/c I left one kid with their father 1/2 mile into the parade.
Let the party begin.
We went to Miss M's best friend's house for a party the evening of the 4th of July to celebrate.  It was a big shebang b/c it was Alex's first Independence Day as an American citizen.  It was a lot of fun to celebrate. I like a good themed party.  I did learn a valuable lesson that evening.  It is important for children to wear shoes when playing with any sort of firecracker.  The remains of the fireworks when stepped on do not feel good on little people's feet.  No catastrophes but lesson learned.  Until next year.
For the rest of the weekend we played at the pool and hung out in a low key fashion.
