He's also clicking his tongue. I sometimes think he's put something he's not supposed to into his mouth b/c it's the same noise when he's trying to swallow something he shouldn't.
I also found Mr. Man climbing the stairs. I ran upstairs to get something and I found him on the landing and wondered how he got there. I was pretty sure Miss M didn't drag him up the stairs. We were playing in the living room and I caught him in the act.
He is working on standing up on his own. He doesn't have it yet but he is very good at standing alone for about 15 seconds without falling down. And his falling down has gotten much better. There are still bruises on his head but he's getting more controlled in falling down.
Miss M. I am a bit worried about her because I think she has anxiety. I recognize the irony of worrying about her worrying. It's hard to explain all of her quirkiness but here are a few examples of what leads me to believe she might have some anxiety.
1. When anyone is coming into a room or coming in from outside she runs and hides. She's not hiding to scare them or say surprise. She's hiding to feel safe. We tell her when we're leaving the room and that we'll be right back and she says "ok, I will go hide".
2. She can't watch a lot of shows because she gets too nervous watching them. There was a Disney Jr. show she used to request to watch all the time and then after turning it on she would start crying frantically to turn it off. It wasn't a cry where she was upset she didn't get her way. It was a cry where she was honestly upset. We stopped recording and playing the show.
3. While watching the same show from above she would cover her eyes and hide behind furniture to be able to watch the entire show. One day she went upstairs and got a pancake box and hid behind it.
4. She's started biting her fingernails.
I am going to talk to her teach about it next week. Her teacher deals with 2/3 year olds all day long and has for 15 years so she's seen just about everything. I hope she has some insight into it. It's probably normal for toddlers. Toddlers are insane creatures.
We have a wine/liquor cabinet. It's in the dining room. Miss M hasn't ever touched it or noticed it before yesterday. Yesterday she brought me a glass from the wine cabinet and then told me I needed a glass of wine. What are you talking about little girl? She proceeded to bring me every bottle of hard liquor we own and then all of the bottles of wine.
It was really funny but I was so perplexed. We don't talk about wine. I don't drink wine in her presence. I don't even drink wine really b/c it makes me tired and at the end of each evening with the kids I am tired enough. I don't need to be more tired. I have no idea where she came up with this but it was comical until I had to put it all away.
Miss M generously shared her snacks with Mr. Man this morning.
Today we had silly sock day in honor of our friend who is fighting cancer. I had to convince Miss M to wear mismatched socks. She agreed to wear mismatched socks for the picture. Mr. Man isn't clothed and Miss M is half clothed. I realize this is normal but I am acknowledging the obvious. And my socks are lame but I own black socks, brown socks, white socks.
We went to a friend's birthday party on Saturday. The gift bag was a pirate theme bag of goodies. She often gives me this nonsense about how pirates are for boys but today she was all about being a pirate.
We are preparing for Miss M's 3 year old birthday party on Sunday. We have another 3 year old birthday party Saturday evening. We are definitely making the rounds on birthday parties.
