Andrew loves going to breakfast. I love staying in my pajamas unshowered at home. In an effort to play nicely I agreed to drag all three kids to a (new to us) breakfast place. Luckily it was really loud in the restaurant so people weren't staring as our kids were screaming/talking loudly. The food was good and our waitress was really nice. I suspect we'll go back next weekend.
Then we headed to Home Depot to get some supplies for the work on the baby house turned play house which I will post about when it's complete. It's on it's way to being complete which makes me so happy. Sunday was the day Miss M had been waiting for for a long time. It was her first race on her feet (as opposed to being in a stroller). We bought her an outfit for her first race b/c she needed to be dressed appropriately...right?!? We bought a matching outfit for her friend E except we got E a purple shirt and Miss M a pink shirt.
I was supposed to run but Andrew took my bib due to the boot. He ran so fast especially for someone who hasn't run in awhile.
There he is in the dark gray on the left side of the picture! Go Drew Go.
Miss M and E and Jill heading to the finish line to try and catch Andrew cross the line!
J and W and M and E all waiting and watching and watching and waiting. I haven't seen all four of them stay still for so long.
Before the girls race. They even had matching shoes.
The junior dash was approximately a 100 meter run. Parents were allowed to run along with the kids but Miss M was adamant that this was her race and she didn't want us to run with her. The start line was a bit crazy and congested. They were four year olds and with four year olds come parents and parents can be just as crazy as the children. Steve took a video of the start and so we were able to watch the chain of events that caused Miss M to fall to the ground as the race started. She was very upset that she fell down and got a pretty good scrape on her elbow. Thankfully Andrew was close by and was able to help her up, calm her down, and hold her hand to finish the race. The video is the sweetest and saddest thing I have ever seen. She tells everyone she won first place. We don't correct her. She probably does think she won first place b/c there weren't many people behind her or ahead of her when she finished b/c of the fall and recovery efforts. Her only complaint of the race was that she wanted it to be longer. I hope we'll find more races for her to run this summer with less drama.
The peeled eggs worked just as well and provided more entertainment and the kids sitting still a little longer.
