Grammy helped with bedtime stories. The big two were excited for someone new to read to them. The littlest one was doing what she does best and running around with her goggles on.
We went to a place called The Shell Factory. It was a tourist area that hadn't been updated since 1976. It was an interesting place with paddle boats, bumper boats, a petting zoo, an area where you could sift through sand and find a treasure, rock climbing wall, snow cones for $1.00. Andrew and I took the big two on paddle boats. The paddle boats were only made for two people which left me with Miss M and Andrew with Big Will. The boats were very lopsided since the kids couldn't help paddle. It was 100 degrees with no shade on the water. It wasn't much fun for me b/c I was boiling hot but the kids seemed to think it was delightful. Grammy and Poppy kept Cate hidden in some shade with ducks and turtles to feed. We rode the bumper cars which was fun then hit the road. We had more than one movie day due to the heat. The kids voted on watching Frozen of the six millionth time. Grammy made popcorn and we snuggled in to relax in the air conditioner.
The kids love playing with Grammy and in Grammy's bed. They all hid under the sheets and wanted us to come find them. They all thought it was the best game created.
We went to downtown Cape Coral for the Fourth of July to watch the fireworks. There was a street carnival but it was hot and crowded. We never made it to the kids area b/c we gave up and went back to the car early. The clouds were a little ominous and I didn't want to get caught too far away from the car with three kids who refused to walk and two people to carry them.
Grammy set up a camp in the back of the car complete with juice and snacks. We were able to see the fireworks perfectly. It started raining about five minutes before the fireworks ended but we were protected and were able to get home faster than anyone else in Cape Coral! It worked out perfectly.
