Catherine's birthday fell on the Sunday of Labor Day. We had planned to spend part of Labor Day weekend in Peoria with all those crazy Borders people. It was like we planned a big birthday party for Cate. You're welcome Cater.
We went to Adam's house Saturday morning and hung out around the lake by their house. The kids played in the water and in the sand. They ate a lot of junk food. They drank way too many sugary drinks. They had a blast. After we were done swimming we hung out at the house playing in the yard, setting up tents, and eating amazing food Adam and Missy smoked/made.
Cater and her friendly lion Hub (short for Hubert of course. He's Hubert the Harris Bank Lion).
We (not me) set up the tents and the kids had so much fun running in and out of the three tents. Nathan and Cathy's tent had a special small space that the kids found awesome.Callie was able to get Cater to nap. She doesn't give up easily but Callie had the special touch to get her to crash out for an hour.
Opening birthday presents.
Cate's not so sure about her new baby from Aunt Cathy. She came around to enjoying the baby but her initial reaction was pretty priceless. The baby is a bit creepy in the most special way possible.
The outfit she's wearing in the wagon is from Adam and Missy. I can't get it off her body. She loves it. She would wear it 24 hours a day 7 days a week if I would let her. She is very picky about her clothes. We have family pictures scheduled in two weeks. I am terrified she's not going to wear the outfit I bought her. I am trying to come up with a back up plan. If it's not her idea she's not supportive of it.
Grandma D brought a birthday cookie special for the birthday girl and a cookie cake for everyone else to share. The cookie did not go to waste. Or at least the frosting didn't go to waste.
Her saying "cheese".
Contemplating the blowing out of the candles. She thinks everything through. She doesn't do anything haphazardly. Frosting. Game on.
Sugar beverage. For breakfast. For my birthday. I don't mind if I do.
Happy 2nd Birthday to Catherine, Cater, Cate, Crazy Pants, Pistol Annie, Pistol Pants. You never leave us wondering what you want. I hope you know what you want in life for all the years to come.
