Dream Crusher

After we got back from Florida we took a family trip to Target and Home Depot and PetSmart. We needed Christmas decorations from Target and Home Depot. We went to PetSmart because Andrew wanted to buy a friend for Stucky since he bought him a larger bowl.

Miss M was so excited. She loves to go to the pet store and just look at the fish.  I don't think she knew that you could take the fish at the pet store home which is how we should have left her innocent thinking. Andrew got her all excited about getting a friend for Stucky. She wanted a purple one. They looked through all the tanks looking for the perfect fish to bring home.

Andrew started talking to the fish expert and learned that Stucky is a unique fish who doesn't need a filtration system to get oxygen from the water (or something like that). The other fish at the store need a filtration system to filter the oxygen. Thus, no friend for Stucky.  Andrew being the good, kind-hearted parent who doesn't deal with a two year old all day long decided that honesty was the best policy. He tried to explain to her that we couldn't get a friend for Stucky.  She broke down into full on tears. She was devastated. She didn't understand. I being the parent who knows how to manage a two year old only semi-better than Andrew decided distraction was the best policy. We offered to buy Stucky new rocks and a new plant to get out of there with only a minimal breakdown. Now he's swimming the good life with fancy clear glass rocks/beads and a purple/pink plant.
