We had a busy Saturday yesterday. Both kids are battling a cold and aren't feeling really great. I don't know if they aren't getting better or if they are just passing it back and forth to each other.
They both played at the doc clinic for a bit before we left for our first official Easter egg hunt.
The park district organizes a free egg hunt. They divide the kids up by age groups so the big ones don't destroy the little ones. We met some of Miss M's classmates at the park. The egg hunt lasted approximately 45 seconds. The park did a really nice job of putting enough eggs out in the grass for everyone. Miss M got 5 eggs and two fruit snack packets that they had just thrown in the grass.
After the egg hunt we got in line to visit with the Easter bunny. Miss M wanted to see him but then wasn't so sure so her friends went with her which helped but she still wasn't so sure about him.
We loaded up after the egg hunt and headed to the city to pick up Miss M's big girl bed!!!! I had bought the bed over the phone the night before so all we had to do was pick it up. She was adamant about getting a bunk bed because her cousin Ella has a bunk bed. I did however buy the matching trundle bed so I would have a place to sleep when she gets up in the middle of the night that isn't the floor. She thinks the idea of the trundle is like a bunk bed so I think it's a win.
I couldn't justify the price of a bunk bed when we won't need that much sleeping space for a few more years. And as evidenced by her two week black eye from falling out of our bed Miss M doesn't need to be sleeping on the top bunk even with a guard rail. We were so tired after we got home yesterday afternoon that the bed is still in the back of the minivan. I plan on going to buy a mattress, mattress pad and sheets today.
Then we rushed down to Chinatown to celebrate baby Oliver's 1st birthday! It was quite an ordeal. There were so many people and a man making balloon animals and so much delicious food. We don't eat much Chinese food these days b/c we haven't found any good places to eat. With Mr. Man having a soy allergy walking into a Chinese restaurant is like a nightmare. There isn't anything the kid can eat. There was some fried rice but it was shrimp fried rice and with his shellfish allergy that limited what he could eat to nothing! Poor kid.
Miss M liked the balloon animal guy. He made her a butterfly and then made a leash for the butterfly so it wouldn't fly away. She was so happy. She waved the butterfly everywhere and was so happy. Half of the butterfly popped in the car on the ride home. She was too tired to be too devastated.
