Miss M gets a big girl bed.

Miss M likes to request to have her picture taken a lot these days.
We finally got Miss M a big girl bed. We were going to need to get a new bed for her since we needed her crib for the baby. We didn't need to make any changes until September but a change had to happen. There were too many days where she ended up in our bed or I slept on her floor. Sleeping on her floor and her sleeping with us is miserable. It sounds all sweet and cuddly until she kicks you so many times you want to cry. There were nights when I wasn't sure the baby would make it through her abuse. I have been scouring the Internet for beds for a few months now. Miss M was set on a bunk bed but I wasn't set on paying the price or risking any of the kids falling off the ladder on their way to the top bunk to fall out of it. I settled on buying a twin bed with a trundle so we don't have to sleep on the floor. I also hoped I could trick her into thinking the two beds were considered bunk beds. It worked.

She's so tiny in the bed. She hasn't fallen out. She does love to jump on the bed and Mr. Man loves when she jumps on the bed and bounces him around.

Since there was a crib disassembled in the spare room and we were hosting Easter-Palooza with kids who needed places to sleep and because I am pregnant and crazy all at the same time. One day before Mr. Man took a nap (b/c the twin bed is in his room) I got the tool set and took apart the bed while two kids crawled around, crawled on me, crawled on the old mattress, and helped spread the tools all over the room. It wasn't my best idea but the bed was taken apart successfully. I even went to the hardware store to buy new nuts, bolts and washers for the next owner.

The bed holds lots of sentiment value as it has been my bed since I was in fourth grade. I have no idea how old you are in fourth grade but I remember the day I got it. I had broken a lamp while playing with dad and mom came home with a new bed for me. It has made every move I have ever made except for the move to college when I lived in the dorms. The idea of parting with it has taken me a long time to come to terms with. I was ready to sell the bed but after talking to Grandma D she convinced me to save it and maybe we can use it again in the future. So until someone else needs a bed it will be sitting in the rafters in the garage.

Here's the room post getting the other crib set up and hanging the canopy. I had purchased the canopy months ago but we hadn't been able to hang it due to not being able to find a stud in Miss M's ceiling - most likely due to her playing with the stud finder and breaking it rather than user error. The room is a mess but I was pretty proud of myself for getting everything accomplished essentially by myself with two kids all up in my business.
