A few new things

We have had a slew of crazy storms in the past couple of weeks. This past weekend the rain water backed up into our building's basement. Our neighbor was gracious enough to come upstairs and tell us. Unfortunately for them this means their living space was flooded. For us, it just means that our storage space got wet. By the time we got downstairs to check it out the water had essentially receded but we were left with some mud on a few things. Fortunately, we have most everything in plastic tubs except bikes and a few other items, therefore nothing was ruined, just muddy.

So today I ran into our downstairs neighbors and in their attempts to deal with the water in their basement they are cleaning house. In cleaning their house they discovered a rocking horse and thought Miss M needed it. They have three kids and all are old enough now that they don't use it any longer. I think Miss M will like it...in a few months. Until then we just need to find a place to keep it.

Here's the horse.

We bought a tree a few years ago. Someone who works all the time wanted it. It was quite the production to get it in the car and up three flights of stairs (45 steps to be accurate) and potted in the kitchen.

As you'll notice it isn't a small plant. There were four trees all alive when we bought it. We named them after the four boys based on birth order and relative size. Drew died first, Nathan died second, Nick died third and the last one standing is Adam. I think next weeks' project (when Daddio is in town!!!) is to get rid of the remaining tree. It's rather unsightly. And it would free up a corner for a rocking horse and eventually a Christmas tree. We didn't put a tree up last year for various reasons. One reason was the lack of space but with Miss M and a free corner I think we'll be decorating for the holiday this year.

Before

After

Yesterday the girl decided that the paci isn't the worst thing in the world. I am not sure why I tried it yesterday as we've made it this long without it. I don't think it's a solution to anything except to give her something to chew on because she's been gumming everything. I think it looks odd in her mouth since she's never used it.
